Kyle Zhao
Class of 2027, SAusIMM
Kyle is a Mining Engineering student at WASM with a strong passion for leadership, industry connection, and community building within the global mining sector. Combining academic training with practical industry exposure across Western Australian mining operations, he has developed a strong understanding of the industry and a deep appreciation for the value of professional networks and mentorship.
As the Founder of WASMCA, Kyle established the organisation with the vision of creating a long-term platform that connects Chinese WASM students, graduates, and mining professionals around the world. He is committed to strengthening relationships between academia and industry, supporting the next generation of mining talent, and building a respected international alumni community founded on professionalism, trust, and mutual support.

Jonathan is a high-achieving Mining Engineering student at WASM and has been recognised through multiple academic scholarships for his strong academic performance and potential within the mining industry. Combining academic capability with practical industry exposure, he has developed a solid understanding of the Australian mining sector and a genuine passion for the future of mining engineering.
As a Co-Founder of WASMCA, Jonathan plays an important role in supporting the organisation’s long-term vision of building a professional and connected global network for Chinese WASM students and alumni. With a thoughtful, disciplined, and collaborative approach, he is committed to fostering mentorship, industry engagement, and opportunities for the next generation of mining professionals.

Ning

Chuanyin is a Metallurgy student at WASM with a strong passion for the mining and resources industry. Known for his strong interpersonal skills, professional attitude, and ability to build meaningful connections, he brings both energy and initiative to the WASMCA team.
Alongside his academic studies, Chuanyin has continued to work within the industry during the semester, demonstrating a disciplined work ethic, strong adaptability, and a genuine commitment to continuous learning and professional growth. With a deep enthusiasm for the mining sector and a proactive mindset, he is dedicated to contributing to the long-term development of the WASMCA community and supporting stronger connections between students, alumni, and industry professionals.

Andy is a Mining Engineering student at WASM with a strong interest in professional development, leadership, and community engagement within the mining industry. Known for his approachable personality, strong communication skills, and ability to build genuine relationships, he brings a highly collaborative and people-focused perspective to the WASMCA team.
With a wide social network across the student community and positive relationships with both peers and academic staff, Andy has become a well-respected and active presence within the WASM environment. Alongside maintaining solid academic performance, he is passionate about supporting student connection, strengthening community culture, and contributing to the long-term growth of WASMCA as a professional and supportive alumni network.

Recognised for her influence across the Chinese mining community, Kiki has built an online following of more than 20,000 people and has consistently championed the visibility of the mining industry throughout her career. She also plays an active advisory role in WASMCA, providing strategic insight, operational guidance, and meaningful support that have contributed significantly to the organisation’s growth and professional direction.
Ben Huang
Graduate Geotechnical Engineer
WASM Class of 2026
Ben is an academically outstanding Mining Engineering graduate from Curtin University, recognised for his exceptional results in technical coursework and research, including a 100% result in Mine Geotechnical Engineering and an 88% thesis on in-situ stress estimation using Acoustic Televiewer data. Beyond his academic excellence, he has made meaningful contributions to WASMCA by supporting its early development, strengthening student engagement, and mentoring Chinese-speaking WASM students through tutoring, peer support, and community involvement.
Botao Shen
Mining Engineer
WASM Class of 2014
Botao is a WASM graduate and Mining Engineer with over 10 years of operational experience across the Australian resources sector. As the creator of FIFOS.life, he is committed to supporting FIFO workers by helping them better manage the unique challenges of site-based lifestyles. His practical industry experience, strong community mindset, and willingness to share guidance with emerging professionals bring valuable insight and support to WASMCA’s mentoring, outreach, and alumni engagement.
